Vintage cookbooks

from The Terrace Times Cookbook by Hellen Arbib

AH. I love raking through my grandma's closet and finding worn-out cookbooks she used. This one is SO fun, with a gorgeous collection of old recipes and drawings of histroical landmarks...it is a VISUAL feast first.

Let's bring this chocolate fudgey goodness back to life..

Ingredients:
  • flour (1 cup)
  • baking powder ( 2 teaspoons)
  • white sugar (1/4 cup)
  • cocoa powder (2 tablespoons)
  • pinch of salt
  • butter ( 2 tablespoons)
  • milk (1/2 cup)
  • grated dark chocolate
  • brown sugar (1 cup)
Method:
  1. Combine the dry ingredients first: flour, baking powder, white sugar, cocoa powder, salt.
  2. Mix in the we tingredients: butter and milk.
  3. Sprinkle the dark chocolate and brown sugar on top.
  4. Completely cover the surface with boiling water.
  5. Bake at 350–375 °F (180–190 °C) for 45 minutes.

That's it. Voilà...The easiest, no-fuss, bake ♥
